King Louis Tshakoane was born in the East Rand on the 10th of september 1948. He is a Direct Royal descendant of the Batau (the lions) Royal kraal in King Sekhukhuneland (he is the last son of the prince, hence his title “King louis”. He was partly raised by King Sobuza I, whom was married to King Maswati III’s mother. He attended the well known St Mary’s High School in Lebombo, Swaziland where he matriculated in 1975.
He is a visionary man who is known to most people in South Africa through his role as Marketing PRO (Public Relations Officer) for Kaizer Chiefs Football Club (KCFC). Louis became involved with the Football club during the 1970’s, and today it is a multi-billion rand sporting brand. One Of Louis’ many attributes is to create excitement, and he has managed to use this attribute to fill stadiums on many occasions and create hype around the game of Louis is a grassroots person and is well known to people on the ground and around the globe, especially in the rural areas where he has a strong footprint and support base (in 280 townships all over South Africa).
He is very close to the youth and the mk veterans who support him in all his endeavours. This respect has been earned over many years as he will always find time for anyone who needs his help or assistance. He is a loyalist, a hard working individual who is most honourable and sincere in all his dealings.
To add to this, he has a keen sense of humour and like to make people laugh!
In 1985, Louis was instrumental with the then Transvaal Football Association to form SAFA (South African Soccer Association) which was later converted to SAFA (South African Football Association). This was done during the transitional period when we were going to be recognized by caf and FIFA. From there the NSl (National Soccer League) was formed after the NPSL was disbanded.
Most of the professional teams moved out of npsl to form the national soccer league which later in the 90’s became the psl which is now our major professional league. All these changes were spearheaded by the powerful KC consortium of which Louis and Kaizer Motaung were in the driving seats. The psl was driven by Cyril Kobus, Abdul Bhanjee (NSL), lm taunyane and stix morewa (SASA).
Louis is a son of the world, who has travelled to some 40 countries and have met with most of the great people of the sporting and business fraternity. He was part of the delegation to the last few world cup tournaments which were played in usa, france and italy and germany. Louis knows how to integrate sports and business (locally and Internationally) – from grassroots to boardroom leaders.
Moreover, he specializes in marketing communications and the media – he is a darling of the media for many years. He speaks most african languages and 5 european languages. Louis is both, a friend and business partner of the Great Sir Richard Branson, who, upon his request, donated gymnasium equipment to the value of R2,5m to his gymnasium in Tembisa. This was done in 2007 and the aim was to promote fitness and reduce crime. Louis wants to carry this forward into other areas.
From 1999 – 2002, Louis was the marketing manager for Bafana Bafana. During this time Bafana Bafana was filling up the stadiums and was virtually unbeatable. This is also when the qualified for the Korea/Japan World Cup in 2002 ( they were knocked out in the Quarter final stage.) from 2003 – 2004, Louis was the manager of the SAFA under 23 Olympic team which went to the all africa games.
He is currently Chairperson of Undercover Millionaires, Executive Director of TND Risk Management and President of SAFA Ekurhuleni district.
