At the Columbus College of Art and Design, two students, that are quiet different from the rest of the students have caused a stir and not in normal means but in different ways. They aren’t doing anything illegal, stealing or cheating, they are actually creating a creative riot. These creative students call themselves Dangerdust. If you sneak into the room during the week you will be surprised by a stunning masterpiece out of nothing but chalk. The pair are both seniors in Advertising and Graphic Design. These two create some of the most amazing beautiful and inspiring art you will ever see.
On Sunday or Monday nights, the magic happens.
The pair selects a vacant classroom.
Then, they get to work.
They complete each masterpiece in one fell swoop.
It can take up to 11 HOURS to finish one of their designs.
“They choose a quote from a list compiled from Google searches and suggestions from friends, draw up a rough sketch, and then get to work using regular chalk.”
The artists have chosen quotes from various people.
Banksy, Ellen Lupton, Claude Debussy, Nicole Jacek, Tavi Gevinson, J.M. Barrie, Stefan Sagmeister, Bill Cosby, Jessica Hirsche, and Nelson Mandela have all appeared on the chalkboards.
Even Dr. Seuss.
These boards aren’t your average act of random art.
The depth they can create with just dollar store chalk is impressive.
The duo should be graduating soon, if they haven’t already.
Hopefully, the world hasn’t seen the last of them.
We need more of THIS!
